Catering Frequently Asked Questions

Tastings are $200 and serve 4 people. If you select Vivere Catering for your event, we will credit back $100 on the final invoice.

Give the caterer a guest estimate that is as accurate as possible. We will create menus based on those estimates and present you with meal options that are divided per person. Once the final guest count is provided to us about ten days before your event, we begin to order the food. We can always add on, but we can't reduce!

This is very dependent on the event and the number of guests, the style of service and the amount of staffing that will be required. Costs are dependent on the number of guests, style of service, staffing needs and equipment needed. We will guide you through the choices that will directly impact and reduce catering costs

All leftover food is the property of Vivere Catering. Health Codes and Liability Insurance clearly state that all food must be within our physical control.

When you hire a caterer, you are not only getting food, but service as well. Fees rolled into this include wait staff, setup, vehicle costs and more. Especially if you are having a large wedding, labor expenses will be large due to volume of staff and schedule of food service.

This is dependent on what catering package you purchase. Your menu and proposal should itemize all charges in detail. Ask for clarification if you don’t understand how the totals were reached. Each event is different ranging from drop off service to full service where we will handle everything. This includes table settings, bar service, wait staff and clean up. Picture what would be required at a restaurant, and that is what will be needed at your wedding.

Many contracts will have the gratuity itemized. If that is not the case then you should plan on tipping 20% of the food total. If you prefer, you can also tip specifically to the chef(s), and servers how you see fit.

The short answer is: because caterers know what they’re doing. Caterers have experience. They know how to please your guests and can even suggest great venues for you to host your event at. When looking at your price estimate, keep in mind that a caterer will save you money in the long run by providing invaluable advice and keeping everything together so that you don’t have to. Save your own sanity and hire a caterer!

The sooner in better. Many couples book as early as a year in advance! When you know who you want, do not hesitate to book them. Once we receive your deposit we are in contract to provide the food and services that are detailed in the Menu Proposal document. If you are booking an event during "wedding season" it is best to book as far ahead as possible so that you have the option to choose between vendors. Booking too late will limit your options and often mean higher prices.

Yes, and any good caterer can. That is the beauty of catering—you meet with us and together we create the perfect meal for your function or event!

Expense fees are non-food related costs of the event. These may include things like china, silveware and glasses, insurance or equipment and propane. Travel costs, insurance and linens can be charged here. This fee is an industry standard and we charge at the rate of 20% of the food total.
